Dr. S. Sundar Manoharan
Born and educated in India, Dr. Manoharan is one of India’s top scientists having made significant contributions in his field both in India and in the global scientific community.
Dr. Manoharan currently serves as the Director of the UGC National Center for NanoScience and Nanotechnology at the University of Mumbai and is responsible for setting up a state of the art facility that will enable a revolution in Nano-sciences and Nano-technology in India, to serve as a leading research center in the field.
For 15 years he served as Professor at one of India’s premier institutions, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Kanpur while also serving as visiting faculty at institutions including Nano Science Center (Singapore), the University of Maryland, The Institute for Solid State Research (Germany), Imperial College (London), Lawrence Berkeley National Labs (California), and the Max Planck Institut fur Mikrostrkturphysik (Germany).
Dr. Manoharan has won multiple awards including the Innovation Gold Medal (Department of Science and Technology, India – Lockheed Martin Innovation), Global Indus Tecno-Innovators Award (MIT, Boston) and the Invention Award (Intellectual Venture, USA). He holds multiple patents and is widely published in the fields of magnetoelectronics, organic light emitting diodes and biomedical devices.
