The recently concluded IndUS Forum Fall 2013 Distinguished Speaker Series (DSS), featuring Professor Prabhu Guptara, logged a total of 11 lectures over nine days in five locations around the US.
Economist, public intellectual, author, business professor, poet, scholar of religion, publisher and entrepreneur, Prabhu Guptara worked for 15 years as Executive Director at Wolfsberg, a subsidiary of UBS, running think tanks with political and corporate leaders as well as managing the UBS Distinguished Speaker Series. Professor Guptara has served on the International Board of Advisors of the London Business School and now serves as a Board member of the Institute of Management at St Gallen University and as a Distinguished Professor of Global Business, Management and Public Policy at William Carey University in Northeastern India. Although an expatriate, Mr. Guptara consults on a number of development and educational projects in India.
Over the course of the tour, Professor Guptara spoke to audiences in Orlando, New Haven, Washington DC, Philadelphia and Oregon. Venues included Yale University, the Berkley Center at Georgetown University,, the India Center at the University of Central Florida, Villanova University, the World Bank and Oregon State University. Lecture topics ranged from “Will India Arise: India’s Condition and its Remedies”, “A struggle for the soul: What India and America can learn from each other” and “A history of Hindu thought”. Professor Guptara and the lectures were very well received with the converation being continued on the IndUS Forum website (www.indusforum.org). Professor Guptara was the third IndUS Forum Distinguished Speaker in 2013. Dr. Sundar Manoharan (Director of the National Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology in Mumbai) and Devendranath Chowdary (Principal Consultant at Infosys) were featured earlier in the year.
